Why we started this

We started Kindred Album after our daughter was born so that we could share our most precious memories with our friends and family knowing that our photos and videos weren't being used to sell ads or train AI models.

You should be able to send photos to the people you love without the photos becoming a product some company sells. Our daughter is not for sale and yours shouldn't be either.

Your name and email are encrypted in our database. Your photos and videos are stored encrypted.
We strip the GPS coordinates and device fingerprints out of every photo before we store it.
We don't show you ads. We don't sell your data.
We don't use your pictures to train AI.
Your data is yours. If we aren't the right platform for you, you can ask for a copy of your files and tell us to delete ours at any time.

Not everyone in the family uses the same phone. Some of them find technology intimidating and would rather not be handed one more thing to figure out. Kindred doesn't require downloading another app, and we focused on simplicity so that everyone else can focus on sharing the laughter and the tears.

Is there an app to download?

There is currently no native mobile app. Kindred Album opens in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a laptop.

How do people know when I post something?

Everyone you invite gets an email when you post something new, unless they've chosen otherwise. Each person sets their own preference. They can get every post, a weekly recap, or no email at all.

Does it work for the family members on Android?

Yes. We don't want anyone left out.

Can anyone find my album?

Nobody can join your album without an invitation from you. We will never broadcast your album or suggest it to “people you may know.” Your album is your space and you have complete control over who participates in it.

Do the people I invite have to pay?

The people you invite never pay.

Will my photos be used to train AI models?

What you put in your album is never used to train AI models, and we would have to tell you before that could change.
